Kenton has called this method by Ben Highway
“One of the great breakthroughs in magic and
mentalism” and “the most exciting new concept
I have seen in years”.
You are about to find out why.
A deck is spread face down between the hands,
and then face up. A freely selected card is
pushed through the deck. The selected card
changes color instantly! No moves, no nada.
Just a pure and direct color change.
The card is rubbed against the deck and the rest
of the deck is now seen to have changed color too.
Now get this: The deck can be entirely examined,
and there is NO SLEIGHT OF HAND. The deck changes
color not by trick props or maneuvers but rather
by mental influence!
We know that sounds impossible, but it is true.
Is it real or is it instant hypnosis of the most novel kind?
Review From About.com
Here's a card color change effect that is part conventional method and a bigger part psychology. The method is so simple that it will appear to magicians that it could never work, but its simplicity creates a stunning change that also leaves you clean. And unlike most color change effects, there’s no sleight of hand.
Change, Change, Change
You bring out a deck and spread it face down between your hands. You turn the deck over and ask a spectator to freely choose any face-up card that they wish. It is a completely free choice. You push the selected card through the deck and its back changes color - so if you started with a blue backed card, it turns into a red backed card.
You rub the red card against the deck and the rest of the deck turns red as well. At this point, spectators can completely examine the deck and you’re clean. Again, there’s no sleight of hand or switches involved, and the cards are normal.
Bold Psychology
As mentioned earlier, the method is outrageously bold and relies on misdirection and strong suggestion. Unlike most card tricks where the method lies in the moves or the gimmicks, this effect is almost all psychology.
I think that the method will surprise most magicians who may question whether such an approach could work. However, this one is baffling and strong. Kenton Knepper provides excellent and thorough instruction that teaches you everything you need to know.
Don’t get this one if you want to learn some new finger flinging moves. But if you want to try out a strong psychological effect, you may like this one.
